Manufacturing Update - Final Lockdown Date
over 5 years ago
– Tue, Apr 23, 2019 at 09:30:55 PM
Hey there War of the Worlds: The New Wave backers!
A couple of significant updates to share with you on the project.
Manufacturing Update
On the very good news side of things, all files for this game have been sent to the printer and manufacturing of the game is underway.
This game is being manufactured in two parts.... One printer is handling the main game and (almost) all of the components. Another one is handling the miniatures.
We don't have a clear estimated timeline on the miniatures, but we anticipate the main game being ready by the end of next May. There are many things that could delay us between now and then, but at the moment we should still be on pace to get this game in backer's hands on time.
Final Lockdown Date
With manufacturing underway, we need to get a good sense of our final product counts. That means we'll be locking orders and charging cards for add-ons one week from today at 11 AM CST April 30th.
The vast majority of you (90%) have already filled out your pledge manager, but if you have not, please do so ASAP. Remember, if you have not filled out your pledge manager, we will have no idea where to send your game.
For international backers, any orders confirmed after that point on BackerKit may be subject to additional shipping or customs costs.
If you're having any problem for whatever reason, you can reach us by sending a message or emailing us at [email protected].
Thanks for all of your support! We'll be sharing photos and updates as production progresses.

German Edition of War of the Worlds: The New Wave
over 5 years ago
– Fri, Mar 29, 2019 at 02:38:13 AM
Hey there War of the Worlds backers,
This is a quick note primarily for German backers interested in getting a German edition of War of the Worlds: The New Wave.
The Issue
Grey Fox Games is the English rights holder for War of the Worlds: The New Wave. We don't control what Lavka Games/Jet Games Studio does with the game in other language editions. Recently, Grimspire launched a German edition of the game on SpieleSchmiede. That project is not yet funded, but there's still about 3 weeks left.
Complicating this, our understanding is this German edition does not currently include the plastic buildings.
If this edition does get made, that creates a dilemma for our backers in Germany (about 112 of you per BackerKit, 107 of whom have filled out their surveys... thanks!) who previously funded this project, some of you have commented or messaged inquiring about getting this language edition.
To reiterate,we don't have the rights to the game in German. The problem with providing a simple refund is Kickstarter as well as BackerKit have already taken a cut of the funds raised, meaning we'd have to provide a partial refund.
After speaking with Lavka Games, we've figured out...
A Solution
If you would like the German edition (should it get funded), please send us an email directly to [email protected] with the subject line "Krieg der Welten". We may not see comments posted here.
We will switch your pledge in BackerKit to the German edition of the game and provide your address information and contact information to Grimspire for fulfillment. We will also print additional sets of the buildings provided in this campaign and get those to Grimspire once they've arrived at our fulfillment center in Germany. They will be responsible for ensuring your copy of the game and your buildings get to you (again, we don't have the rights to that edition).

That's it for now!

March Update - Pledge Manager - Game Board Tweak - Rulebooks
over 5 years ago
– Wed, Mar 20, 2019 at 06:08:21 PM
Hey there WotW: New Wave backers!
It's been about a month since we last updated you, so let's get to it!
Pledge Manager
Since we released the pledge manager through BackerKit last month, 88% of you have gone in and filled out your surveys.
Thanks to everyone who's submitted theirs so far!
As a reminder, if you don't fill out your pledge manager, we'll have absolutely no idea where to send your game to. For international backers, not filling out the pledge manager could mean increased customs and shipping costs in order to get you your game.
We're going to be keeping the pledge manager for this open through mid-April, so you still have some time in case you're worried about having the funds available.
Game Board Tweak
During the campaign, many of you rightly pointed out that, with the expansion board to the left, it made far more sense to move the track to the right. So we did just that! Check it out above.
Rulebook Tweaks
Right now the main thing standing between this game going to the printer is making rulebook edits. Currently, the expansion rulebook is getting the most focus as we send it through our typical process for making revisions. Just about everything else for this project is print-ready, which means we should hopefully be able to move forward with manufacturing in the coming weeks.
New Project
As we're doing all of this, we've just launched a brand new project on Kickstarter that we're very excited about. This is the updated edition of Tsukuyumi, an asymmetric area control game set in an imagined Earth after the Moon has come crashing down into the surface.
Check it out here!

Thanks for your support! We'll keep updating you here on progress that's being made with bringing this game to life.

Pledge Manager Imminent - Important Info
– Thu, Feb 14, 2019 at 06:20:45 PM
Hey there backers!
Roses are red, violets are blue.
It's Valentine's Day, here's an update.
....
Ok, so poetry isn't necessarily our strong suit. We do have an update for you though! It's a very important one.
Pledge Manager Imminent
We've received approval from BackerKit to start sending out surveys as soon as the 14 day post-campaign window for Kickstarter to transfer funds ends.
Starting either tomorrow or on Monday, we'll be sending out what's known as a smoke test. 5% of randomly selected backers will receive their pledge manager invite. This is a way for us to test things out and make sure everything is working properly. Assuming that goes well, we'll send out the rest of the surveys the following business day. If you haven't received your pledge manager invite by Thursday, please contact us directly via [email protected] or by message.
FAQ
Having run a number of these campaigns before, there are questions that always seem to inevitably pop up.
When should I fill out the pledge manager?
As soon as you receive it. Without this filled out, we have literally no way of knowing where to send your game when it's time to fulfill. That can lead to you not getting your game or increased shipping costs especially if you're an international backer.
How long will the pledge manager stay open?
We don't have an exact date at this time. We tend to close the pledge manager and charge for add-ons or additional money charged through BackerKit close to when the final files are submitted to the printer. To give backers enough time to provide their address, we'll have this open for at least one month (mid-March) and will provide at least a week of heads up before closing things down.
When will cards be charged for add-ons or additional funds added in BackerKit?
Your card will be charged when we close down the pledge manager itself, no earlier than March 15.
What if I need to change my address?
Even after the pledge manager is locked down, backers can still change their address up until we're much closer to shipping the games themselves.
Why are the "Other Games" add-ons US only or have seemingly outrageous shipping costs?
Any non-War of the Worlds products or games (those shown above) are getting shipped from our warehouse here in St. Louis and isn't available to be shipped from our international fulfillment centers. Those are intended as US only, but we can't have them listed that way.... hence the prohibitive shipping cost for international backers.
How do I upgrade or change my pledge level?
For backers who have pledged at the $5 level or any other backer looking to upgrade their pledge, you'll be able to do this in two ways in BackerKit.
When you first open BackerKit, you can do it by clicking on the button highlighted.
If you happen to click past this screen, don't despair! There's a second way to make the switch.
Click on this section here:
and then on the next screen click on this:

That's all for now. Once all pledge manager invites have been sent out, we'll be posting another update with additional details on progress on the game itself.
Thanks,
Alex - Grey Fox Games
