Live Stream Recap - Add-On FAQ
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jan 29, 2019 at 01:08:46 AM

Hey there WotW: The New Wave backers,

We're in the final few days of the campaign with a couple of big stretch goals lurking ahead. We'll have a lovely recap of that tomorrow...

For today, a couple of notes.

Live Stream Recap

ICYMI, Board Game Spotlight had a (fairly quick) playthrough of a game between Derek and Lizzy. I won't spoil if humans or aliens won out... You'll just have to watch here if you're curious.

Add-On FAQ

In response to our announcement of an add-on version of the pledge, some of you had some questions.

Does the add-on copy come with all unlocked stretch goals and Kickstarter goodies?

Yes it does.

How do I add this on?

You increase your pledge by $44 now along with any extra in your region for shipping. Then, in the post-campaign pledge manager (BackerKit), you will add that item (or any other add-ons you choose) to your cart before finalizing your address information and payment information if necessary.

Humans vs. Aliens

A couple of updates back, we asked for you to pick your favorite side in a Google Forms survey. Unlike the newsletter, where the Alien team reigned supreme, this time it was the Humans who came out on top.

That's all for now! We're excited to hit the final 48 hours and hopefully some of the awesome stretch goals we've laid out.

In the meantime, please spread the word to whoever you think will be interested and we should be able to hit our goal in no time.

Thanks for the amazing support!

One Week to Go! New Add-On - New Preview - New Livestream
almost 6 years ago – Fri, Jan 25, 2019 at 04:00:35 PM

Hey WotW: The New Wave backers!

We're down to one week left before the campaign is over! Things have been a little slow in recent days, but we expect things to ramp up quickly.

New Add-On

Based on backer demand, we've added a new add-on for the stretch run. If you'd like to get a second copy of the base game + expansion, you can do so by adding $44 to your pledge plus an additional shipping cost. Those shipping amounts are listed below.

If you're looking to add a mat as well post-campaign, you'll be able to do so in the pledge manager.  Adding too many items here makes things a little too complicated/convoluted.

New Preview

The wonderful folks over at Board Game Gumbo took a look at the game and published a preview recently. The write-up featured two pretty glowing quotes from the writers.

"The theme is excellent and well represented through card art and mechanics, the gameplay and production are both top notch, and to top it all off it’s at a very reasonable price. " - Bradly Billingsley

" War of the Worlds: The New Wave is my geaux-to two-player game of choice right now and I heartily recommend it." - BJ Rozas

New Livestream

In a little less than an hour, at 8 PM EST, Board Game Spotlight will be hosting a livestream of War of the Worlds: The New Wave. Join in and root on your favorite side!

Thanks for the support! Let's keep the excitement going for the final third of this journey.

New Stretch Goals Added - Add-on Available
almost 6 years ago – Tue, Jan 22, 2019 at 10:40:52 AM

Hey there WotW: The New Wave backers!

We're about halfway through the campaign and today we have some exciting news!

New Stretch Goals Added

We're rapidly approaching the $100K stretch goal. To give you a sense of the road map ahead after that, here are the next three stretch goals.

Next up at $110K is a card stock quality upgrade, bringing all cards in the game including unlocked stretch goals up to 300 GSM blue core if we can hit that stretch goal.

Remember this stretch goal? If we can hit $125K we'll upgrade the civilian token cubes to custom meeple shapes. That, combined with the buildings should add an immersive feel to the game.

And finally, a pair of promo cards at $140K... One allows the Alien side to pull off a desperation move to massively upgrade their forces. Another allows you to recruit the legendary inventor Nikola Tesla to your side to help cut off energy to the Alien team.

New Add-On

And finally... many backers were asking for a way to get additional sets of miniatures, so we listened. Now if you'd like to grab an additional set of the game's miniatures including buildings, you can do so by adding $15 + shipping to your pledge. This will hopefully help get us even closer to some of those awesome stretch goals.

That's all for now! Thanks again for the excellent support and for spreading the word about this game.

Stretch Goal Clarification - More Coverage - Battle for Earth
almost 6 years ago – Mon, Jan 21, 2019 at 02:28:19 AM

Hey there WotW: The New Wave backers!

A quick update for you on this Wednesday.

Stretch Goal Clarification

We've seen a few comments on the $100K stretch goal we announced yesterday relating to some confusing wording we had in the update.

In that update we referenced: " one building for each faction to hold the tiles to be unlocked at $100K. "

What that should have said was seven buildings for the aliens and eight buildings for the humans... of one mold for each faction. In other words, there will be a component for each potential building you could have on the board... it's just going to be one type of building for each side that the respective tile/token slides into.

More Coverage

Following yesterday's live playthrough (go team Humans!), we saw some lovely coverage today from GloryHoundd pumping up some excitement for the game. Check out the video here:

Battle for Earth

This game is all about battling for Earth's future.... Humans vs. Martians.

So I figured we'd have a friendly competition right here on our campaign page.

Choose your side here!

When we did something similar in our Grey Fox Games newsletter, the alien side won by a three vote margin. Let's see if the humans can get their vengeance!

That's all for today! Thanks for spreading the word and keeping things moving.
